The Kittens' Mystery

The Kittens' Mystery

by Mary Angelucci

Once upon a time there were three little kittens, Ted, Toby, and Timmy. Who were playing with a ball of yarn. Their mother, Talia walked in to watch her cute little babies.
"Mama!" her boys shouted. " Mama come play!"
"Alright, alright" Talia agreed after a few minutes.
After playing for a time Talia had to finish up her chores so she left the room. A few minutes later she heard…
CRASH!!!

Talia came running in. "Are you okay? Did someone get hurt?!" she said in a panic. As she stops in front of her boys, her eyes fall on a broken lamp. "Who broke the lamp?"
All three kittens look at each other.
 "I didn't" Ted said.
"Nope didn't do it" Toby confessed.
"Nor me" said lil Tim.
"Now, Now please don't lie, tell me who broke the lamp" Talia asked once more.
"Timmy must have. He's closest." Toby accused.
"H-Hey! D-Don't blame me" Timmy cried out.
"Hey!" Everyone looked over at Talia
"Now let's not jump to conclusions."
"But he was closest. How could it not be him?" Toby continued.
"How about we all calm down?" Ted said, hoping to stop the arguing.
"Teddy's right. We need to focus on what's important. Finding out who broke the lamp."
"But none of us broke the lamp, mama" Timmy spoke up .
"How do you know that? You could have." Toby once again accused Tim of breaking the lamp.
After a few minutes of silence, Ted spoke up "What if we looked for clues to find out who did it?"
"Like detectives?" Timmy asked looking interested.
"Exactly like detectives, little bro." Ted said smiling.
So the three kittens and their mama walked over to the broken lamp to find some clues. As they walked to the lamp, Timmy spots something. "Hey guys over here!!!" he shouts.
"What is it?" Toby says walking towards him.
"This" It's a small piece of dark brown fur.
The three kittens look around. Toby has fur as white as snow, Timmy has fur as black as night, but Ted has white fur with brown spots.
"Well Ted, got some explaining to do?" Toby asked, now accusing Ted.
"I didn't do it, I promise!" Ted argued back
"Hey!"
Everyone looked over to see Talia. "Stop this arguing, we're never going to get anything done at this rate."
"She's right about that guys." Timmy said.
After they agreed not to fight any more they continued their search.
Toby spots something that looks like a crumb of food. "Oh! Guys, mom, I found something."
The other three join him and spot the crumbs.
"It looks to be some sort of trail." Ted says, starting to follow it.
The trail ends near a small hole in the wall.
"It's a mouse hole!" Talia exclaimed.
Suddenly, a mouse ran over to the other lamp, chewed through it and ran into the hole.
"That mouse must have broken the lamp. It chewed right through the wire of the other one!" Timmy said excitedly.
"We don't know that yet, but it could be." Talia said, hoping they figured it out.
Ted knocked above the hole. "Hey Mr. Mouse?"
The mouse returned, saw the cats and ran as fast as he could back inside.
"Wait, we don't want any trouble. Just to ask a question." Ted said calmly.
Timidly the mouse peered out of his hole.
"Hi, uh can we ask you a question?" Toby spoke up.
The timid mouse nodded, still looking at the cats in fear of being eaten.
"Did you happen to break the lamp?" Timmy asked.
The mouse looked ashamed and nodded again.
"Oh..." Timmy awkwardly said.
"Why?" Talia asked
The mouse explained that didn't see where he was going and ran into it. It fell and smashed into pieces. The mouse squeaked an apology.
"It's okay, at least we know who did it." Ted exclaimed.
"So the case of the broken lamp has been solved?" Timmy asked.
"Yes, the case has been solved." Talia said smiling. All the kittens starting cheering.

The end

To Bra Or Not To Bra

Back in the ‘60s women were burning their bras. This had very little to do with health issues and more to do with taking a stand for women's rights. Burning bras became an iconic symbol of women’s independence from men. Today, the subject of bras centers more on appearance and concerns for our health than on making a political statement. The question remains: To bra or not to bra? As a woman who has a large bosom, I have heard every piece of advice about how to treat my breasts properly. “Wear a bra all the time, even when you sleep; Never wear a bra; Don't wear underwires; Wear underwires--” the list goes on and on. For each bit of advice I’ve gotten in one direction, someone else has given me the opposite. Honestly, at the end of the day I’m thrilled when I can take it off and be free. Although the bra is a relatively new invention, women have used various means to support or bind their breasts since ancient times. I’m glad we don’t live times when "civilized...
The "Happy Fat Kid" Mask I’ve decided to dive right in to what is probably the hardest mask of mine to face, and the one I have been wearing the longest— “the happy fat kid” mask.   Yes, I was and I am FAT! Less so in recent months, but I am not on the “plus size” or “curvy” side of the scale yet. I know that for many of you that word may be offensive, but why sugar coat it?   I am overweight, obese, heavy, and yes, fat. I use this word here because that is how the world sees folks like us, and if we are honest with ourselves, it is the word that we use to describe ourselves in our minds—even if we never say it out loud. I don’t remember ever being thin. I have pictures of a slimmer me, but in my mind I have always been overweight. I became aware that I was different when I started kindergarten, and got worse when I hit first grade. I went to a small Catholic school and I was “the fat kid.” Plus I had to wear uniforms that were definitely not flattering t...
Hi, my name is Jenn. Seven months ago I made a major decision that changed my life –especially the way I look at myself and the world around me. I realized I’d been living life from behind a collection   of masks, hiding my true self and projecting what I wanted the world to see. We can’t be completely honest and open all the time; we all wear masks to some degree, but I’m facing the fact that mine have been so ingrained in me for so long that I don’t know if the real me is different from the masks I’ve worn. Through this blog I aim to figure out if I’ve merely settled for being the person I’ve portrayed to the world, or if there’s more to me, more to who I really am. I’m embarking on a journey of self re-discovery, one I would like to share with you. Whether this blog is read by an audience of one or a million, I’m writing it to achieve some major goals for myself. First, it will be a way for me to work out this new life I’ve started, and begin to discover the real me. T...
